Aristoteles “Aris” Gonzalez-Chiman is a queer,
first-generation college student, and Mexican American illustrator born and
raised in Austin, Texas. Aris relocated to San Marcos to join the BFA Studio
Art: Drawing program with Texas State University, pending graduation in May
2026. Having grown up with immigrant family, he cares deeply about political
issues and expresses himself through his art; often talking about his identity
and struggles living in the south. When Aris was still in elementary school, he
was introduced to Sonic the Hedgehog which inspired him to pick up a pencil. He
has been growing in his art ever since then. The IDW Sonic comics are big
inspirations to his style today and Aris hopes to create illustrations for
graphic novels or comics in the future. Aris has been commissioned to design
characters, emotes for Twitch, and other personal work. He designed stickers
for a research group, Reach Out and Connect, that studies suicide prevention
within LGBTQ+ youth. Aris is currently working on a group Exhibition called
Euphemistic Eulogy, an exhibition that deals with life and death, with other
artists.
